Staging is becoming a fast-growing trend as the real estate market realizes the competitive edge in listing

homes that have been prepared by a professional home stager. With the number of homes on the market

increasing and the number of home sales decreasing, sellers are seeking more creative ways to distinguish

their listings from the thousands of others on the market. Staging has been regarded as one of the best

ways of doing just that.

When a home goes on the market for sale, it becomes a product that must appeal to the greatest number

of potential buyers. It takes the average buyer approximately 3 minutes to walk through a home and,

within 90 seconds of being there, to form an opinion. Therefore, it is important that buyers see the full

potential of the house the moment they walk in the door. During this short window of opportunity, the

home's best features must be showcased. In order to appeal to 100% of the buyers, distractions, such as

clutter, personal possessions and decorating style, must be minimized.

Staging involves three concepts: cleaning, de-cluttering and depersonalizing. By working with the flow of

a home, eliminating clutter, and rearranging furniture, and enhancing curb-appeal, homes can make a

notable first impression on potential homebuyers.
